(Spring College) The blossoms are out, Spring can be sensed in the air, and Spring College warmly invites you to our upcoming outdoor event: ‘Money and Valuing Life’. An event that informs and inspires us to integrate our economic value systems into the ecological processes of growth and development.

What: Money & Valuing Life

When: Saturday 25 May 2013

Time: 11-16 (welcome from 10:30am, lunch included)

Where: Amstelveen, de Braak heemtuin

More information:

In 'Money & Valuing Life' we will explore values and value creation. What is truly valuable for the future of the Earth and our species? How can economic, businesses and financial value creation align with this long term perspective? And how do we, different players in society, cooperate effectively in a time of transition?

Ecologist and former director of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Willem Ferwerda will present Ecosystem Return, an initiative that focuses on restoring ecosystems and rehabilitating land worldwide by matching companies with hectares of degraded land. On a daily basis, Ferwerda shows companies that barren land can be restored and rehabilitated by means of water retention, soil accumulation and planting trees and other plants. In cooperation with strategic consultant McKinsey, he has developed an attractive business case that convinces (financial) institutions of the economic sense of Ecosystem Return.

Spring College will take you out to further discuss money and values in the beautiful 'indigenous gardens' in Amstelveen. Being surrounded by the trees, shrubs and flowers that naturally inhabit our low-lands, we develop a deeper understanding of the intrinsic value of healthy ecosystems around the world, as well as the (business) case for restoring them.

Looking forward to join? Please let us know via [email protected] and we will send you more details about the day.

To allow for a diversity of participants, this Spring College event will be by donation. €30 per person covers the direct costs for fully organic coffee, lunch, location and speaker (not our time). You can transfer your donation to Spring College, NL38 TRIO 0254 8451 26 at Triodos Bank Zeist or bring cash money with you.
